Pierpaolo Doria
Born in 1967, he was raised in Venice, the third child of a normal household where his mother was a housewife and his father an employee with the city public transportation office.
As it is commonly thought that Civil Law Notaries come from a privelegde background or that to become a Notaio you must have an immediate family member already one, his family is a perfect example of how a “commoner” from a normal upbringing, with hard work can become a Notaio. In fact only 17.5% of Notaio’s actually come from families where one member practiced this profession.
His education began in High School, with an intensive study of classical Greek and Latin language and culture.
Upon high school completion, he moved to Padua where he studied and majored in Jurisprudence, at the University of Padua, doing his thesis on Commercial Criminal Law.
After receiving his degree, Pierpaolo decided to return to the University of Padua, where he obtained a Postgraduate Specialization Course in Law of International Commerce and Finance.
At the same time, he began his obliged two year apprenticeship, learning the skills one needs, to prepare for the difficult Civil Law Notary exam.
Along with his Notario studies, he became an Attorney at Law which he practiced for three years.
In 1994, he transfered to Rome, where he began a two year intensive Civil Law Notary School: the “Anselmo Anselmi” is a very well historically known school in Italy . Here you are prepared for the very difficult exam one must take to become a Civil Law Notary. His studies included the everyday knowlegde one must know in order to practice his profession.: Civil Law, Estate Law, Commercial Law, and Judicial Law.
In 1996, at the age of 29, he passed his Civil Law Notary exam, placing 57 out of 271 winners.
On Oct. 27th, 1999 he returned to Venice, where he was presented with his Official Notary Stamp by the Local Notarile District President. He was now able to start work as a Civil Law Notary in his home town.
Today he is a member of the Board of Notaries of the District of Venice and he is also member, since 2002, of the URM (unit for market regulation) which is a commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Venice.
Notaio Doria is fluent in English.
